Looking for a handmade knife at an affordable price? My dad has been on a knife buying spree lately and stumbled upon Custom Forged Knives or CFK. CFK offers a wide variety of knives ranging from Bushcraft Knives, Hunting Knives, Swords, Machetes, Axes, Kitchen Cutlery, and Survival Knives dubbed IPAK.

According to CFK’s website, “CFK sources its metals from Germany, Japan, and Sweden and our handle materials are sourced from all over the world, including the USA.  The knives are handmade in the UK by a contract knife company. The finished knives and leather sheaths are then imported to the United States.  We use several USA craftsmen (Yellow Hawk or SC Holsters) to handcraft leather and kydex sheath systems for our customers. We are fortunate to have famous Navajo’s Brian & David Yellowhorse to customize many of our finished blades and we also have other professional knife makers customize our blades from time to time.”

CFK knives are typically made out of D2 Tool Steel and Damascus Steel, while handles can be found in a variety of materials to include: Micarta, Leather Wrapped, Bone, and Wood. “Our Damascus is forged with 512 layers of 15N20 and 1095HC or 1084HC and tempered to 58-60HRC. Our D2 is sourced in Japan, and our 1095 High Carbon is sourced in Germany or Sweden.” The leather sheaths can be just a standard sheath or can include a fire starter and sharpening stone depending on what the company offers. Sheaths can be purchased by themselves if you want one with a fire starter. Blade styles vary as well to include: Clip point, Drop point, Tanto, Parang, Trailing Point, Wharncliffe, Straightback, and Tapanga.

These handmade knives are just absolutely beautiful. My father gave my wife and me a set of Vietnam Era Style Bowie knives for our birthdays last year. These knives are full tang and made out of D2 Steel and comes with a leather sheath. These style knives are becoming very popular, especially with the Prepper Community. These knives are 58-60 HRC, so they are really sturdy and will last for a long time with proper care. These knives came with a sharp edge and the sheath already had a light coating of oil inside it. And for Christmas he gave us a few more of CFK’s, to include a skinning knife and a bushcraft knife.

Prices for these knives have a wide range of pricing. CFK offers these knives on eBay, so they can be bought for cheap – like $25 cheap. But for the Military Style Bowie knives, they can be as high as $129.99. Even with the prices, it’s still affordable. Also, CFK sells their knives on Amazon, Etsy, and even at walmart.com.

According to CFK’s website, “our knives are made very well and designed to last a lifetime.  If you happen to break one of our knife blades or knock the handles apart, we will replace it.  No replacements will be given without the original Certificate of Authenticity Card with the Warranty Record number on it. Wear & tear and blade usage consisting of scratches, small cracks at pins, dings, dents, cosmetic blemishes, blade edge chips, broken knife tips, blade edge dings, re-sharpening errors, corrosion, rusting, pitting, carbon-burs, and tarnish of the knife are not covered by the replacement guarantee. The sheaths are not covered by the replacement guarantee.”

If you are in the market for a new knife, then check out CFK to see if it’s right for you. If you do decide to get one, you won’t be disappointed.

As always, ya’ll be good and be safe!
